"After high school, I enlisted in the Air Force," says Don. "I went to the Air Force on Sunday, failed my physical on Monday, and was back home Tuesday ready to continue my life."
After returning home, Don went to work for an International Harvester dealership in Hanover, Kan. It was there that he was approached by a co-worker many years his senior who wanted the young welding prodigy to be his partner in a weld repair shop.
After a couple of year's in business together, Don's partner sold his half of the business to Don, paving the way for the beginning of Landoll Company.
"For the first 11 years I was everything — the buyer, plant manager, engineer," says Don.
Hear more of the Landoll story and how a strong set of core values helped build a solid foundation for the company's success in the next episode of "How We Did It: Stories from Independent Farm Equipment Innovators."
